China Will Issue Trademark Certificates Electronically Starting in 2022

Starting on January 1, 2022, China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) will stop issuing Trademark Certificates in paper form. Instead, all Trademark Certificates will be issued electronically. The Certificates can then be downloaded.

This will make it more convenient for the registrants to save and print the Certificates. It will forever avoid the problem the Chinese Trademark Office had in 2016, when the Office was not able to issue Trademark Certificates for seven months because of the shortage of the special paper that the certificates were printed on.
